These large, authentic masks, hand-carved in Burkina Faso for agricultural ceremonies to promote a healthy harvest, will make a dramatic statement in your home!

The masks' geometric design is used to draw people's attention. When worn at night performances around a fire, the effect is quite dramatic. The handle at the bottom of each mask is where the wearer holds the mask during the ceremony.

This unique sculpture portrays a nomadic family of 4 in long robes, standing close together. The sculptures are cast from solid bronze in Burkina Faso using the lost wax method. Artisans work with beeswax and clay to mold beautiful works of modern African art, which are then cast in molten bronze. The final pieces are painted in natural tones.

Sold individually. Because this is a handcrafted item, each piece will vary slightly.

One-of-a-kind art from Kenya, these sculptures are welded from recycled metal and feature a large cow bone as each figure's dress. The sculptures can be displayed inside or outside of the home, with the metal developing a patina with exposure to the elements.

We immediately purchased these sculptures upon seeing them in Nairobi because of their unique beauty and eco-friendly construction. Sold singly, the sculptures have the greatest impact as a set. Sculptures measure approximately 58-62"T.

About the Artisans:

A small workshop of artisans outside of Nairobi collect and transform discarded metal into spectacular works of art. Welders by trade, these talented men use modern machinery to create representations of old world Africa. Other local materials are often used in their sculptures, including bone, stones, and fabric.

This metallic Ubuntu bowl features 3 women holding hands around the rim in a spirit of unity, wearing their traditional African headscarves with their babies on their backs. In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based, thus the word Ubuntu represents "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity."
