These meaningful vases are hand-carved from a single piece of sandalwood and feature a smooth, cut-out heart as the focal point. Designs incorporate both the rough inner bark of the sandalwood tree and smooth, polished sandalwood to give each vase character and to utilize more of the tree's wood.

This one of a kind Punu Ceremonial mask is handmade in Gabon. Representing an idealized female face, the mask features characteristic high coiffures reflecting the Punu women's elaborate hair styles. Punu masks were often worn by dancers during ceremonies called Bwiti which were to celebrate ancestors.

The Bozo people of Mali are known as "masters of the river", and their culture and artwork centers around their interaction with the Niger River.

These large fish sculptures pay tribute to the handcrafted animal puppets and masks that are used in the Sogo Ba celebration, where young men in elaborate costumes use dance to entertain and teach.
