Under the umbrella of Nairobi's Gikomba carving cooperative society, talented Kenyan artisans work on various artistic endeavors from individual stalls, using wood sourced legally by the cooperative. Richard's small team of carvers carve jacaranda in these whimsical giraffe sculptures, finished with a hand-applied stained giraffe print.

About the Artisans:

We work with an amazing co-op in Kenya, the Gikomba Wood Carving Cooperative, a group of woodcarvers of all ages who work in an open-air workshop in Nairobi. This environmentally-responsible group takes care to legally procure all types of African wood used in their products, and they are skilled at using all parts of the tree in their artwork.
