About the Artisans:

Soapstone is mined in Kisii county in southwestern Kenya. We work with three different artisan groups in and around Nairobi who carve, polish and paint the stone to create beautiful pieces.

About the Artisan:

Chrispen is a creative Zambian artist who specializes in creative village scenes in papier-mâché. He crafts the scenes from wire, then layers recycled paper to achieve the final shape of the figure, before hand-painting each sculpture vibrant colors and patterns.

We met Wanduta at the Friday Market in Nairobi where his bright designs immediately caught our eye. Wanduta works almost exclusively with recycled pop cans and beads. His work, like his personality, is vibrant and joyful, and is work is 100% eco-friendly.
