Wild olive wood serving pieces are hand-carved by Kamba people living in the bush of Eastern Kenya. Special permits must be received to fell an olive wood tree, and the carvers make use of every inch of this prized wood. Often several artisans work on a single piece, with specialities in carving, smoothing, staining, and adding cow bone.
