Recycled Spark Plug Water Activities

Swahili Modern

BK08W

  • Artisans in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso, turn recycled spark plugs into fun athletic sculptures. Each sculpture is coated with clear paint to prevent rusting and to add sheen. A firm metal base makes each sculpture freestanding.

    They measure between 6"-7"H.

  • The Ilboudo brothers lead a small team of metal artisans in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Originating from an artisan incubator known as Village Artisanal de Ouagadougou (VAO), the artists create a series of amusing portrayals of everyday life from spark plugs and recycled metal for both local sale and export. Their whimsical recycled art reflects the light-hearted nature of many Burkinabe people and appeals to collectors around the world.
