This handmade African kalimba is carved from a calabash gourd by artisans in Senegal. When played with the thumbs, the kalimba's metal tines and hollow interior produce a beautiful, resonating sound.

An artisan co-op of young men in Senegal create hand-crafted kalimbas from gourds. Frequently the artisans are also musicians themselves, and they take great care in producing instruments of exceptional quality and beauty.
