Bring traditional African design into the modern kitchen with these unique salad servers featuring a dyed cow bone inlay. These exceptional servers are hand-carved from a single piece of olive wood and hand-sanded to a smooth finish. Kenyan artisans carve a small block of cow bone, then stain it with food-safe dye using an age-old batik process, and custom-fit the bone into each server handle. The combined result is simply stunning.

Wild olive wood serving pieces are hand-carved by Kamba people living in the bush of Eastern Kenya. Special permits must be received to fell an olive wood tree, and the carvers make use of every inch of this prized wood. Often several artisans work on a single piece, with specialities in carving, smoothing, staining, and adding cow bone.
