This set of two boys reading--one one his stomach and one reclining on his back--is handmade in Zimbabwe by Sculptor Luke Jimu. Zimu hand-carves and textures springstone, then combines it with recycled metal to create a serene line of people figures.

About the Artisans:

Zimbabwean artist Luke Jimu works with springstone, which is a prized dark stone that polishes to a high shine because of its density. Most springstone is sustainably sourced and is mined on communal lands for the purpose of sculpting.
