These large, authentic masks, hand-carved in Burkina Faso for agricultural ceremonies to promote a healthy harvest, will make a dramatic statement in your home!

The masks' geometric design is used to draw people's attention. When worn at night performances around a fire, the effect is quite dramatic. The handle at the bottom of each mask is where the wearer holds the mask during the ceremony.

This set of two boys reading--one one his stomach and one reclining on his back--is handmade in Zimbabwe by Sculptor Luke Jimu. Zimu hand-carves and textures springstone, then combines it with recycled metal to create a serene line of people figures.

Sold as a set of two sculptures. Because this is a handcrafted item, each will vary slightly. Not intended for outdoor display.

About the Artisans:

Zimbabwean artist Luke Jimu works with springstone, which is a prized dark stone that polishes to a high shine because of its density. Most springstone is sustainably sourced and is mined on communal lands for the purpose of sculpting.

One-of-a-kind art from Kenya, these sculptures are welded from recycled metal and feature a large cow horn as each figure's dress. The sculptures can be displayed inside or outside of the home, with the metal developing a patina with exposure to the elements.

About the Artisans:

A small workshop of artisans outside of Nairobi collect and transform discarded metal into spectacular works of art. Welders by trade, these talented men use modern machinery to create representations of old world Africa. Other local materials are often used in their sculptures, including bone, stones, and fabric.

These pots are crafted from clay, fired in a kiln, and hand-painted with acrylic paint. Each is unique, and beautifully made!
