Moses and his small workshop of craftsmen build their own welding machines out of copper coil, tape, steel rod, and a sheet metal housing in order to create these spectacular metal works of art. These fun recycled metal hippo planters are handcrafted from washers, nuts and other salvaged metal pieces. These unique sculptures can be used as planters for small plants or succulents. The bottom is very porous; we recommend lining with dried moss before planting. Adaptable beyond simple planters, these sculptures can be used to hold a variety of items inside the home and outdoors.

The sculptures can be displayed inside or outside of the home and are one-of-a-kind. Because they are made of metal, the sculptures will develop a patina when exposed to the elements. Measures 14"L x 9"W x 6"T but may vary slightly.

These intricate one-of-a-kind "izimbenge" baskets are crafted by Master Zulu weavers in South Africa with strands of repurposed telephone wire. These visually stunning baskets represent a traditional craft updated with modern synthetic materials.

Only one available. Measures 13"D x 1"T. This basket is hand-woven from telephone wire and requires several days of labor to create. The baskets feature a concave center and are dense to the touch.

About the Artisans:

ZenZulu is a South African craft business organized by designer Marisa Fick-Jordaan. Once consisting of only two master weavers, the business taught unemployed women how to bead and weave, with an emphasis on telephone wire. Today, this highly regarded organization ensures sustainable incomes for more than 350 home based craft producers in four different communities.
