An homage to traditional Maghrebi flavor, Ukuva's Harissa Sauce builds depth from pure red peppers and essential North African spices. Use harissa in a tagine with lamb, eggplant and tomatoes, or brush Harissa sauce, olive oil and fresh chili onto chicken before cooking (and serve a little sauce on the side at mealtime). Carefully assembled small batches are presented in beautifully adorned bottles that tell how each sauce was inspired. The delicious sauces can be used as a marinade or finishing sauce and can be used in Uvuka's collection of recipes.

The sauces were developed over the course of a decade by a culinary-minded traveler who recorded his experiences with food in Africa. Today, the spices for Ukuva are grown and packaged in South Africa, with a proceed going to the Fair Trade Trust for the education of the workers.
Ukuva iAfrica works with Turqle Trading to produce Fair Trade spices and sauces of exceptional quality. Turqle is a member of WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization - www.wfto.com) and they ensure that producers maintain fair labour and wage practices. 2.5% of the export price of Ukuva products goes to the Fair Trade Trust for the education of the workers. The wire and beadwork is made by hand at Cape Mental Health Society.
