First made as a steakhouse sauce in the 1980's, Ukuva's Chakalaka relish has been charming diners ever since. Tangy, sweet and spicy, the sauce is delicious with flame grilled lamb, pork, chicken, corn, burgers or vegetable skewers. Add it to cream cheese as a topping for oven roasted potato wedges and garnish with crispy onion flakes, or use the relish as a dip with corn chips. Carefully assembled small batches are presented in beautifully adorned bottles that tell how each sauce was inspired. The delicious sauces can be used as a marinade or finishing sauce and can be used in Uvuka's collection of recipes.
Size: 4.22 oz.
The sauces were developed over the course of a decade by a culinary-minded traveler who recorded his experiences with food in Africa. Today, the spices for Ukuva are grown and packaged in South Africa, with a proceed going to the Fair Trade Trust for the education of the workers.
Ukuva iAfrica works with Turqle Trading to produce Fair Trade spices and sauces of exceptional quality. The wire and beadwork is made by hand at Cape Mental Health Society.
